These compounds inhibit the synthesis of ribonucleic acid (RNA).

Among the best known products are the Metalaxyl and Furalaxil.

Metalaxyl is used in foliar sprays, seed treatments and soil, to control Phycomycetes as Pythium, Phytophtora and Mildius Woolly among others.
 
Furalaxil, is used in treatments to control soil or foliage also Phycomycetes as the metalaxyl.
